Final Production Proposal

Final Production Proposal:

After all the sessions we have done and weighing up my options, I have decided to go down the route of Augmented Reality (AR). I really enjoyed the session and experimenting with it. I feel very confident using the Blippar app and it would be beneficial for my concept.

The idea I have decided to go for is an AR concept for Match Attax cards. Match Attax cards are football collecting cards of football players. The aim is to complete the collection of all the football players in the league.

My Twist on it is to use AR. You would scan the cards using the Blippar app and it comes up with more information about that specific player. I was thinking of attaching the players position, their club, age, nationality, how many appearances they have, how many goals they have, achievements, attaching their Instagram account they have and their Wikipedia page for even more information.

Regarding the Instagram and Wikipedia page, the plan is to have it set up that box as a hyperlink. This is so it would make it more accessible for the user to go and follow that player on Instagram or find out further information on the player. In addition to that adding a hyperlink to the club official website of the player as well as the national football team. This is so the player can view news, fixtures, results, buy tickets or merchandise from the club / country team.

Below is a prototype of how intend it to look:

Target audience:

I feel this would be a great concept and would be a useful app. This because the primary target audience of Match Attax are young primary school boys aged between 6-11 years old. When I was in that age bracket myself I, used to collect and trade Match Attax with my friends. With the correlation of technology being more commonly used by children, getting their own electronic devices (phones and tablets) at younger age now compared to a decade ago, by creating this AR artefact I think it would be very popular amongst the target audience intended by Match Attax.

The secondary target audience would be 90s and 2000s generation that have carried on collecting cards since their youth. They also use their phones a lot to, meaning the AR feature I intend to create would be of great use to them.

Strengths and weaknesses:

It is an original idea. When I have researched the idea I had their aren't any AR features for playing / trading cards, physically using the card. This would make it an exclusive product and could inspire other trading card games to have a similar concept.

However, a weakness is Pokémon has its own AR feature with the successful Pokémon go, but it doesn't physically interact with the playing cards itself. It is rather a virtual collection of Pokémon rather than physical.

Another strength is by creating a combination of three things into an app, most children amongst that age group use, it would be successful. Kids are always using technology; most boys are starting to get into football and card collecting in and around that age group is popular. The app would help them develop a better understanding of the game and the players they have collected in their packs.

A strength for Match Attax is that this feature could help increase revenue for their company as it is aesthetically pleasing. This could lead to more of their customers buying more packs to use the feature again and improve their collection too.

Having said that, Match Attax do have their own app. It allows you to collect the cards through the app virtually instead of physical copies. This could hinder my creation being utilised due to applications being a lot easier to access rather than Match Attax as only certain shops sell packets of them. But in the physical packs it gives the purchaser a QR code to scan to redeem a pack on the app. Which means there is still encouragement to buy physical packets.
